New Friends and Longstanding Relationships – Update February 19th 2016

While Madrid continues to shiver in the freezing February temperatures, PerMondo is opening up its warm arms to welcome new NGOs and old friends into its home. Let’s take a quick look at just some of the projects that we’re working on at the moment!

As we mentioned in our last post, our relationship with the National Down Syndrome Congress continues to flourish. This rather large project is developing quite nicely, and some of the more urgent translations have already been delivered. We all owe a big thank you to Lucía Campillo Rey, Ana Martín Mercader, Teresa del Barrio and Ana María Jiménez Melero for their translations, as well as to Michaela Capuccino, Alexandra Cuesta and Ana Martín Mercader for proofreading the texts!

National Down Syndrome Congress – Update February 9th 2016

This month, we’re happy to introduce you to Linda Mora from the NGO National Down Syndrome Congress (Roswell, Georgia, United States). For more information, have a read of our interview with her. The NGO needs us again for a series of new articles to be translated from English into Spanish. Keep an eye on their website, you’ll be able to read them soon!

New energy – Update January 21st 2016

Last week we told you about our new project, so now we’ll you a bit more about it.

What’s new this week?

First of all, we’d like to share with you that we have new interns (great new energy!), so you will most probably be in touch with them soon. They will be involved in getting to know Mondo Agit and work actively with PerMondo, as well as translating and proofreading heaps of documents. The three girls are from France (Pauline Junca), Germany (Verena Müller) and Spain (Carolina Bermejo Lingres) and they have just survived their first week with us!

The project for the NGO Task Forces on Systemic Pesticides is still underway and has just got even bigger! We had some problems with the Italian translation and had to search for a new translator. With Chinese we also had some troubles, but one very friendly girl has decided to translate further parts, so now we are waiting on the last one. We’d now like to seize the moment and thank our volunteers:

Beginning 2016 – Update January 12th 2016

What’s been happening since the beginning of 2016?

We started the New Year with a brand new idea: keeping you updated about what’s been happening at PerMondo in the most dynamic way.

Our idea is to post a blog entry every week or two, telling you what new projects are going on, what requests we’ve received from NGOs and especially to acknowledge your priceless help to make this world a better place. For previous projects, please visit PerMondo projects (classified by years).

Well, there are of course still some projects underway from last year, i.e. Task Forces on Systemic Pesticides. This has been quite a difficult project because of the terminology (as the name suggests – yes, it’s about pesticides), because of the desired language combinations – English into Italian and Spanish, as well as into Russian and Chinese – and the scale: 9,580 words (so a few translators have been and are still involved). Spanish and Russian have been delivered, but we are still waiting on some final documents for Italian and Chinese. Freedom comes at a price – part III

About socialism…

Economic socialism, such as what was conceived by Marx, is founded on two fundamental pillars:

1. Public property of the measures of production, work and capital.
2. Creation of a central planning organ (council of knowledge) that determines who, what, how much and when to produce.

Criticisms of socialism, theoretical impossibility and practice.

As they already explained in the 20’s and 30’s of the last century, the theories of the Austrian School of Economy, lead by Ludwig von Mises and Friedrich Hayek, and more recently by Jesús Huerta de Soto and Hans-Hermann Hoppe amongst others, the communist type of socialism is not technically possible for the following reasons:

1. Socialism assumes that all the available information can be managed by a central authority (regardless of the number of managers) overlooking that today’s society is based on the use of widely dispersed knowledge that far exceed the capacity of any individual mind. It’s said, the total volume of information is so immense and continuously changing, it is technically impossible to conceive that you can get to know it and process it centrally with no governing body.
