Interview with European Shepherd Network

27/03/2017 By Sabrina Leave a Comment

Last year, we had the opportunity to have a nice chat with Stéphane from the European Shepherd Network.

Watch this short video to find out what grassroots movements are being created and how they relate to shepherding, and to discover what challenges shepherds are facing nowadays.

If you like the video and want to help spread the word about this important issue, please share 🙂

Interview with L’Envol

20/04/2016 By Sabrina Leave a Comment

Although a Frenchman, an Irish woman and a German may sound like the beginning of a pub joke, this time it meant PerMondo conducting an interesting interview with Rebecca Egan and Olivier Dreneau from L’Envol, a SeriousFun camp in France.

You can listen to the video below, but if you find the thought of not being able to see our beautiful faces somewhat unbearable, you can read the transcription of the interview instead.

Enjoy and don’t forget to follow our channel on YouTube!

For the eager readers amongst you, here’s the transcript…

Sabrina:           Good morning, Rebecca. Good morning, Olivier. Thanks for being here today. My name is Sabrina and I wanted to ask you a couple of questions about your collaboration with PerMondo – the initiative for free translations for NGOs – and I basically just wanted to know a little bit more about you and the organisation you work for. So, what exactly is it that l’Envol, or SeriousFun Children’s Network, does? And what is your specific role as, in your case [Olivier], Camp Director, or in your case [Rebecca], Assistant Camp Director?

Olivier:            Good morning. I’m Olivier; I’m the Camp Director of l’EnvolContinue Reading

Interview with Fondazione ANT

06/04/2016 By Sabrina Leave a Comment

Last year we conducted an interview with Maria Rita Tattini from Fondazione ANT and now we would like to share it with you.

To make it a bit more entertaining, we have recorded a video that you can actually watch.

Enjoy and let us know what do you think 😉

If you liked the video, you can also share it with your friends!

PerMondo has a Spring in its Step after Easter

31/03/2016 By Sabrina Leave a Comment

Spring action

Easter certainly seems to have left everyone at PerMondo feeling rejuvenated, as we’ve completed an enormous number of projects this week and welcomed a few new NGOs into our ranks. As always, we’ll start by introducing these new organisations, before looking at our ongoing projects and thanking our volunteers for their collaboration.

The first new organisation to make the most of our services this week was the Biopolitics International Organisation. This Athens-based NGO was founded in 1985 and aims to promote international environmental cooperation and education in the fields of climate change and environmental abuse. We were approached by this NGO to translate two texts (1590 words) from English into German and Italian. We look forward to delivering our translations in April.

The other organisation to approach us for the first time was the European Childhood Obesity Group, an NGO which brings together a large amount of specialists from across Europe to tackle obesity and overweight in childrenContinue Reading

“Purr”Mondo Supports the Animal Welfare of Pets and Strays

As the first day of March got everyone at PerMondo looking forward to the hot summer ahead this week, we got a warm stroke of appreciation from our four-legged friends at TIERFAIR, an NGO which deals mainly with the welfare issues of stray and domestic animals.

After already enjoying a rewarding collaboration with this Swiss organisation, we had been contacted again to provide our translation services. This time, we were able to help out with the 1942-word translation of some rather informative and humorous articles on chubby pets at Christmas, “heart-warming gifts” taken straight from the garden and donated kindly by cats to their owners, and how to spot a good breeder. The texts were translated from German into English and French. We owe a big thank you to Melody Winkle and ALL (translators) and to Thomas McGuinn and Emilie Bloh (proofreaders).

It’s always nice to hear how grateful the organisations are for our translations. TIERFAIR is no exception, as its president and founder, Claude Häberling, wrote the following messageContinue Reading

New Projects are Music to the Ears of PerMondo

26/02/2016 By Sabrina 2 Comments

This week, we at PerMondo were delighted to provide our translation services to a new organisation: the Verdi Stiftung.

The Internationale Giuseppe Verdi Stiftung, founded in 2007, is a nonprofit foundation which is recognised in several European countries. Its most important objective is to make the legacy of the great composer, Giuseppe Verdi (1813 – 1901), available to everyone interested and to conserve it for future generations… Furthermore, the foundation is striving towards the founding of an International Verdi Professorship and several other Verdi-oriented projects, such as making the composer’s entire letter correspondence available in other languages apart from just Italian. Anyone who feels a calling to get involved in any way – and that applies particularly to students – is warmly invited to get in touch with the foundation.

We have firstly been asked to translate several parts of the organisation’s website from German into English and Italian. We’re delighted to have the opportunity to work in harmony with such a good cause and have already found some enthusiastic translator-music lovers to lend us a hand with this rather interesting project.

We’re continuing to help out the National Down Syndrome Congress with our translations. This week, we successfully delivered a number of article translations for the foundation. The first set of translations that we managed to complete were 1427 words long: We owe a big thank-you to Tania Domínguez Quelle for her brilliant translations and to Gema Arce Raya for her diligent proofreadingContinue Reading
